Eat Grapefruit to Prevent Diabetes

Results of a new study conducted by American and Israeli experts shows that regular consumption of grapefruit can help in the fight against diabetes.

Scientists found that citrus fruit contains antioksedantat naringenin, which gives it a bitter taste. By their effect on metabolic processes in the body is identical with naringenin two medicaments, which are often administered to patients with type II diabetes.
Type II diabetes is the most common type of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas (pancreas) secretes the hormone insulin, but sekretsiatya is inadequate to the needs of the body's cells.
This means that the insulin is released in less than the required amount or (more often) the cells do not correspond to the action of insulin.
This state in which cells are insensitive to the insulin is called insulin resistance.
In response to this insensitivity beta cells of the pancreas began to produce and secrete more insulin to affect non-sensitive cells. However, insulin failed to score glucose from the blood into the cells of muscle, liver and adipose tissue, and blood sugar remains high.
Conducted by Dr. James Nahmias and his colleagues at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, studies show that antioxidant confers specific taste of grapefruit, increases sensitivity to insulin and causes the liver to burn fat rather than store them.
Furthermore naringenin helps patients with metabolic diseases maintain healthy weight, which is an essential part of the therapy of the disease.
